Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the dress code?

The Dress Code is formal: formal evening gowns or suit and tie. The groom is wearing a suit and tie so Black tie and up is allowed but only if you really want to upstage the groom. Kilts and Sporrans are allowed but we do not take responsibility for anyone online calling you out for cultural appropriation.

For the dinner the night before the dress code is Smart Casual. It doesn’t have to be your dressiest dress or your suitiest suit but a little effort to look nice for the occasion that’s slightly more formal than your average day.

How do we get there?

Getting to Edinburgh is easy enough you can fly to Edinburgh Airport if you’re coming in from abroad. For locals in the UK, you can also fly or take a train to Edinburgh Waverley. You COULD try and get a plane to Newcastle or Glasgow if there aren’t other options, just as much as you COULD get a plane to Stavanger and swim across the north sea.

Do you want gifts?

It’s a destination wedding, so we recognize we’re asking a lot to get you to travel to Scotland and stay there for the weekend, that’s all we want. If you feel absolutely compelled to, you can find options here, but really, its not necessary.

Can we bring kids?

The short answer is no. We’ll have our nieces there but that’s it. The longer answer is: not to the ceremony and dinner, no. But you could bring your kids to Edinburgh if you can arrange for childcare on your own.

Is there a toastmaster?

No. For those who are confused, Norwegian weddings usually have a toastmaster who arranges multiple speeches during dinner. We are doing a mix of Catalan/British/Norwegian traditions.

If you want to give a speech get in touch with the bride and groom. We’ll have some speeches during the ceremony, and some at the beginning of dinner.

Is there a cash bar?

Kind of. On Friday, beer, wine and soft drinks will be included. Anything else will have to be paid for (card only!). On Saturday we’ll have a drinks available during the different parts of the ceremony, including wine for dinner. After dinner we’ll have an open bar for a set amount of time during which we’ll cover a selection of the bar’s menu.
